The playoff picture for high school football.

Well high football season, is on the bricks of the end for 2010 season, their are teams that have came out and shock a lot of people this season, so we will get to that in this post. I will be talking about three region one class 1A region 4, has a very close race for the four spot for the state playoffs, and they have last years class 1A state champs the Mt.Olive Pirates in it, but the Cathedral Green wave made a big statement two weeks ago when they upset Mt.Olive on their home turf and now hold a tie with the Bogue Chitto Bobcats for first place, they will face off two weeks form now.We could be looking at a battle for the first place by then if Bogue Chitto can hold off Mt. Olive this Friday night in a key game for the the Bobcats. Don't count out the Dexter Bulldogs who have put a 3-1 in district play they are the lone black horse to make the playoffs this year. It would be the first time sets 2002, but after a lost to Mt.Olive last week, they
travel to Sebastopol to face the Bobcats, who made a deep run last year only to fall short of the state title game, but they have had some stones in the road this year as they are 1-2 in district play, a lost this Thursday would probly have them on the outside looking in. St. Al save a hope for the postseason by beating Salem last week in a close game, they would have to beat Cathedral and Mt.Olive, and have the Dexter Bulldogs to lost to both of them teams, because Dexter beat St. Al two weeks ago. West Lincolin and Salem are playing to get better for next year, that's all they can really do the reason of this season.

  • Dexter vs. Sabastopol. The Bulldogs will win a close game and will lock up a playoff spot for the first time seen 2002.

  • Bogue Chitto vs. Mt.Olive. Bogue Chitto undeafed district play will come to a hold this Friday and Mt.Olive will get the win.

  • Salem vs. West Lincoln. These teams are playing for pride the reason of the season, but come Friday night they will be playing to see who is the best out of the bottom of Region 4 1A. West Lincoln will surprise the Wildcats, and win the game for their first win of the season.

  • Cathedral vs. St. Al. This will be one of the biggest game in this region this week, because if St. Al can pull off the shocker and win the game they will keep themselves in the playoff run, but if the green waves win they will give themselves a good chance to get the top seed in the state playoffs, St. Al will pull off the biggest upset this week when they beat their achrivals and keep themselves in the race for the fourth seed in the playoffs hunt.

District play

Win lost

Dexter 4-1 Sabastopol 1-3

St.Al 2-2 Cathedral 3-1

West Lincoln 1-3 Salem 0-5

Mt.Olive 3-1 Bogue Chitto 3-1

Now we will talk about Class 3A region 7. This is one of the hards districts in Class 3A in the south state. When you have the likes of Franklin Co. 06 state champs and 07 runner-up. Then you have last years state champs Tylertown, who also finish runner-up back in 08. So with them they both it combine four year in the state championship game in Jackson, then you have Halehrust who won the class 3A state championships back in 05 but can't seem to get that deep in the state playoff sent then. Wilkinson Co. has shock a lot of people in this district this year, with a district play 1-1 after up setting Jefferson Co. last week, they are the dark horse in this district to make to playoffs run this year, but they will have a tough road ahead of them as they go on the road and face Hazlehrust this Friday and still got Tylertown to face for the last game of the year. So with a win Friday and a upset against The Chiefs the Wildcats could be in for a playoff treat this year. Hazlehrust with a 1-1 fail to do what every body is trying to do in this district and that's to knock off the state champs Tylertown, but after that lost they came back big last friday to beat The Bulldogs of Frankin Co. to pull them closer to the playoff run that also has three other teams in The district racing for the last three spots in the state playoffs so one of these team out of them four will miss the playoffs this year. It's going to be a race to the end and a team that is hitting it's peak at the right time is Tylertown, as they stand on the lone spot in top place in this district at 2-0, and have Jefferson Co for homecoming this Friday night. who is still in shock with the lost to the Wildcats last week. So Tylertown could get out in front early on in this game and win this game and come one step closer to being crowned the district championship for the third year in a row. Franklin Co. needs to pick up their play as their year is been up and down. They had a big lost to Hazlehurst last Friday and need a big win against Amite Co. because with a lost and Tylertown and Jefferson Co. still left to play, they could be on the outside looking in during the playoffs this year which would be the first time in a long time. Jefferson Co. stand 1-1 and need to play very will the rest of the season, because with the lost to Wilkinson Co. last week and a match up with Tylertown this Friday night they still have Hazlehurst and Franklin Co. to play. This game will be a big key game for the Tigers and will probably determine their faith for the playoffs this year. The team that's not really out of it but doesn't have much room for mistake is Amite Co. who lost their second district game last week to Tylertown, they Would have to win out the rest of the season and still would need help to make the playoffs and it doesn't get easy as their last three teams they face are most likely playoff contenders and that's the likes of Franklin Co. this week and Wilkinson Co. falling week, and Hazlehurst to close out the year.

  • Tylertown vs. Jefferson Co. The Tigers need to upset the defending champs this week, but with Tylertown speed and with them peaking at the right time of the year. I see Tylertown winning and being at the 3-0 mark when they face Franklin Co. two weeks from now.

  • Franklin Co. vs. Amite Co. The Bulldogs Can't rest on the Trojans this week coming off a big lost to Hazlehurst last week. They will need to be focus on the prize because Tylertown awakes for them, but with Amite Co. needing the win to keep their hopes for a playoff spot alive this will be a dog fight, but Franklin Co. want let this one slip away form them as they will pull themselves together before they face Tylertown in a key game for both teams late in the season.

  • Wilkinson Co. vs. Hazlehurst. The Wildcats have had a season for the ages they stand 1-1 after they upset Jefferson Co. late in the game last week with a last min touchdown to win by seven points, but they can't get ahead of themselves as they face a tough part of their district season as they got Hazlehurst this week and then Amite Co. and finishing with Tylertown. So they will need to beat two out of three of these games to have a chance for a playoff spot this season. Wilkinson Co. will upset this week and beat hazlehurst, before they face a weak Amite Co. team next week.

win lost

Wilkinson Co. 2-2 hazlehurst 1-2

Tylertown 3-0 Jefferson Co. 1-2

Franklin Co. 2-1 Amite Co. 0-3

We finish with Class 3A district 8. this is not really a power house, but their are the likes of a few big name like Perry Central who finish up 12-1 last year. Collins who aways has a real good team and then theirs Seminary. But if I was to say that West Marion would be in a better position to make to the state playoffs at this point in the season then Perry Central you would have though that i was crazy. But it's hasn't been a good year for the Bulldogs in Perry Co. and losing to West Marion last week 22-0 was a wake up call for the fans at Perry Central. Collins is tie for first place with Seminary Bulldogs at 2-0, it will probably come down to one of them two teams for the district Championship and for the first seed in the playoffs. The team to really shock every one in this district is the Trojans of West Marion, they hold a 1-1 on the year in district play, and they will play host to St. Patrick for homecoming this Friday who is also 1-1 in the district then comes the bump in the road when they travel to Collins to face the Tigers a in a key district game which will determine if the Trojans make a seed in this years playoff run. With this being a weak district you can't really put Perry Central out just yet, but with only three games left in the season they will need to win out and have a lot of help form other teams in the district to have a chance. They will face Seminary this Friday and in curial game for them and after The shut out against West Marion last week they need to put that behind them and get their mind on these last three games to have even a inch of a chance to make a late season playoff run. Seminary who if they can beat Perry Central this Friday and go in at 4-0 the final game of the year against Collins they could have a real good chance to get the district crown this year. But they will need to also focus on the St. Patrick game to, because they are 1-1 and could find themselves 2-1 and in the thick of the playoff hurt if West Marion comes in to their homecoming with a big head. Collins is one of the teams to watch in this district, because if they say on the right path and upset their Coveington County rivals Siminary in the season final game which could be a game that determines the district chompionship this season, but they can't get over their head just yet with the Trojans still to face and a Sumrall team looking to be a team to upset some of the playoff contenders. Collins could have their work cut out for them the rest of the year. Sumrall shows a o-2 mark in district play, but they are a dangers team in this district, because they can be a team to upset you if you don't come in on your a game, and if they could win out and have some help they could also find themselves having a chance to make a playoff spot, but it's likely not to happen with Collins, Perry Central, and West Marion still to face, two of them teams are playoff contenders. St. Patrick will need to do what they did last week and that's to win the rest of their games, but their last three games will be hard task at hand with West Marion, and Seminary still to play in a weak district, their are still a lot of passably in this district. But it will start to shape up after Friday night.

West Marion vs. St. Patrick. With the Trojans having the year they are having St.Patrick could have their hands full come Friday night. But after a win last week St.Patrick comes in on a rise. West Marion will put this one away and make a strong run for a playoff spot.

Collins vs. Sumrall. Sumrall would need this win to make a statement this year. But Collins will win this game and will get ready to face a possably one of the toughness West Marion team they have face in years next Friday. Which with both teams winning this week it could be key game for both teams.

Seminary vs. Perry Central. Perry Central didn't vision this year being 0-2 in district play, but what a different in years when they were the top in this district and now they could finish second to dead last this season. But if they could pull off a win this Friday night against a steller Seminary team that's on a roll it would give them a piece of hope for the rest of the season. Perry Central will get their act together in just the nick of time and make a strong finish for this year.

win lost

Perry Central 1-2 Seminary 2-1

Collins 3-0 Sumrall 0-3

West Marion 2-1 St. Patrick 1-2
